Court Diversion and Support Program
About the Program
The program offers court support and diversion services to individuals experiencing mental health issues who come in contact with the Criminal Justice System.
Who is Eligible
Individuals 18 years and older considered to have a Serious Mental Illness, Developmental Disability, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, Concurrent Diagnosis, Dual Diagnosis or Acquired Brain Injury who have come into contact with the Criminal Justice System.
The Program is Offered:
Throughout the Rainy River District
The Program Provides:
- Assistance Accessing Duty Counsel and/or Legal Aid
- Mental Health Diversion Planning
- Assistance Retaining Legal Counsel
- Case Management
- Custody Release Planning
- Probation/Ontario Review Board Support Services
- Advocacy and Referral
- Community Outreach
Referrals
Individuals may be referred to the Court Diversion & Support Program by various sources including the Court, Crown Attorney, Defence/Duty Counsel, Probation Officer, community service providers, family members, as well as self referrals.
